Ceremonia desfășurată la Viena, pe 27 iunie, a adus Asociației Little People România, prin proiectul „Nu mi-a frică!”, Marele Premiu pentru Integrare Socială, oferit de ERSTE Foundation.
În competiție au fost trimise aproape 2000 de aplicații provenind din 13 țări din Europa Centrală și de Sud-Est, premiul principal fiind luat de un proiect din România, prin Asociația Little People.
“I Am Not Afraid!” helps children with cancer better understand and deal with their situations. The project started in 2010, at a time when around 400 newly diagnosed children did not receive any psychosocial support. They were left alone in a bleak world they couldn’t understand, felt sick but didn’t know why, could turn only to their parents, also emotionally affected.
Now, Little People staff and volunteers work in all seven hospitals that provide full cancer treatment. They welcome children and explain their situation, play games, and create stories that make hospital life less scary. Children become less afraid and, as the mascot of the project suggests, face their illness with the courage of little lions.
